Open Enrollment
色狼社区 has an open enrollment policy for students who attend a school or program outside their regular attendance areas.
A lottery system is used to provide an equal opportunity for students who request participation in an alternative program or school for which the number of applications exceeds the number of available openings. Approval or denial is based on space availability per grade level. Lotteries are held twice per year – in March and July.
Application procedures
- Parents who have children enrolled in 色狼社区 can access the system through Q ParentConnection.
- New-to-District parents can visit www.asdk12.org/welcome/lottery.
- For more information contact your child’s school.
Part-time students
Students enrolled in non-色狼社区 schools who wish to enroll part-time (three classes or less) should contact District schools for an application form and register at the same time as district students.

Registration for Limited-English Students, Grades 6-12
Registration for ELL Families
Any New-to-District family should register at their home school or online. If you need language assistance, please call
907-742-4452. Families connecting with their home schools is our primary goal. Only new-to-country secondary (middle and high schools) students (within the last year) need to be tested right away to determine if they are eligible for the Newcomers’ Program. If secondary and new to the country and district, please email Katie Bisson at Bisson_Katie@asdk12.org or call and leave a message at 907-742-2171 or Michelle Yoon at 907-742-1977 or email Yoon_Michelle@asdk12.org to request assistance. One of those two individuals will get back to schools and families the beginning of August.

Schools will encourage parents to pack healthy lunches and snacks and to refrain from including beverages and foods that do not meet nutrition standards. To promote good health, get lots of fresh air and exercise, along with healthy snacks and meals that are both tasty and appealing to the eye.
Consider these easy tips:

- Get at least 60 minutes of physical activity, five times a week
- Go for a walk or run
- Play a game, ride a bike, skate, or swim
- Take a water bottle to school

Free and reduced-price meals
色狼社区 provides free and reduced-price meals for students that meet household size and income criteria. The Federal eligibility income chart for the school year can be found on the Student Nutrition webpages.
Children who are approved for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Temporary Aid for Needy Families (TANF) are automatically eligible to receive free meals by filling out an application that includes the assistance number from the program. Students who are migrant or homeless are eligible once certified by Child in Transition or Migrant Education Department. Foster children receive free meals regardless of the income of the household in which they reside.
Parents must submit new applications for free or reduced-price meals each school year. If a child was approved last year, there is a 30-day period to re-certify for the upcoming school year. Families with new-to-district students and kindergartners should apply in August. Returning students should apply between August and October 1. The new determination will take effect immediately after processing by Student Nutrition and within 10 days if that status becomes lower than the prior year’s application. Applications can take 10 days to process. Electronic applications typically are processed in 24 – 48 hours.Applications are available at each school, Education Center, Student Nutrition offices, online at , and via Q ParentConnection. Applications translated into Spanish, Samoan, Hmong, Korean, and Tagalog are available online. Applications may be verified at any time during the school year. Please submit only one application per family.
Parents are responsible for their child’s meals until notified by letter, which is sent to the address on file at the child’s school.
CEP schools
Some schools may be designated to a special category (known as CEP Schools) which allows those schools to feed all students free without applications. If a student transfers within 色狼社区 to a non-CEP school, an application must be submitted in order to continue to qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
